Constitutional Issues and Judicial Review

We have considerable experience and expertise in applications for judicial review, seeking remedies for administrative decisions of central and local government or other bodies which have performed public duties or functions in a way alleged to be illegal, irrational or procedurally unfair. We have been involved in judicial review of legislative acts including a successful challenge to an amendment of the Constitution.

The partners of SIA&A regularly advise on matters of constitutional law and have been involved in various groundbreaking cases as junior counsel to Barrister Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed, who was a renowned constitutional lawyer of Bangladesh and was involved in landmark cases involving constitutional issues of the country.  A former Attorney General and Minister of the Interim Government of 1996 and 2001, he had vast knowledge and experience of the Government of Bangladesh and its instrumentalities. The Partners carry on the tradition and appear regularly in court in judicial review cases.
